Meet Bishop Gabriel & Family

Bishop Gabriel and Emily Ngulutu are the founders of Redeeming Africa, U.S.A and Beulah Christian Fellowship, Kenya. They are both originally from Kenya but grew up in separate villages about 200 miles apart. Unlike his wife Emily, Gabriel grew up in a spiritual environment where the blending of superficial Christianity and animism was the norm. However, many years of persistent evangelism and perseverance in prayer as minimized syncretism while elevating Jesus as the source of true Light in his village.

Gabriel attended Free Gospel Bible Institute in Export, PA from 1989 to 1991 graduating with a Diploma in Biblical and Pastoral Theology. He later transferred to Carver Bible College in Atlanta, GA where he completed a B.A in Biblical and Pastoral Studies. He enrolled for his Masters Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Regent University School of Divinity in 2001 and stayed through his doctoral studies there which he successfully completed in 2009. After much prayer Gabriel founded Redeeming Africa in 2008 following the post election violence in Kenya, his country of birth. Since its founding, Redeeming Africa has embarked on building bridges between people groups in Kenya through evangelism and projects of charity. Redeeming Africa missions and scope continues to increase by each successive year.

Philippians 4: 13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," is the Bible verse that inspires them to remain focused and strong in their faith and missions’ outreach in Kenya and beyond.

CALL TO MINISTER CHRIST

The Christian journey of Bishop Gabriel Ngulutu and his call to ministry began in 1980 after accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. His encounter with Jesus and conversion experience on the night of September 28, 1980, was rather dramatic. Gabriel was the first and only born-again Christian in his village. Following his conversion, he began to sense the awesome responsibility to pray and share the Good News with folks in his village and beyond.

Today many people from his community and neighboring communities have received Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Several years later God placed it upon Gabriel and Emily to donate a piece of land to their ministry. It is on this property where their first church was later planted with only five people in attendance. Today more than 250 believers call Beulah Christian Fellowship in Lutuni their home church. In addition, Bishop Gabriel & Emily have planted several churches in multiple places in eastern Kenya. Just like Jesus and the Apostles their ministry to communities in eastern Kenya integrates preaching God’s word with concrete, relevant and redemptive humanitarian projects. Hence, their mission focus is to connect people to Jesus through evangelism and projects of charity.

INFLUENCES IN CHRIST THAT INFORMS OUR PERSONAL LIVES AT PRESENT

Several influences in Christ informs our personal lives at present. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” This is the Bible verse that influences our mission focus. First, both Emily and I understand that, for people to receive and experience true rest, they MUST have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Undoubtedly, it is our personal relationship with Jesus that has carried us through our 30+ years of marriage and through our many personal and ministry challenges. It is our personal relationship with Jesus that gave birth to our ministry passion from which many lives in Kenya have been positively touched and transformed by Jesus Christ. Secondly, missions were (and still are) central to Jesus ministry and that, “missiology is the mother of all theology.”i Therefore, completing the Great Commission MUST be the heading and not a footnote in our personal Christian practice as well as in our corporate worship.

The Great Commission is what motivated Jesus and the Apostles to cross national and cultural boundaries and to reach out to people who, often, didn’t appreciate them or their work. We too as his disciples, should have the same zeal. Thirdly, God has called us to build His kingdom; not our personal empires. Hence, our success in calling nations back to the Bible will not only be determined by how soundly we articulate biblical apologetics, but also by how equitably we carry out those biblical themes that inspire and promote unity, peace, and love among all believers.

This is what Jesus advocates in John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this, all men will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another” (NASB)
